How it all started...
In the early days before statehood, there were few buildings and people slept in tents. In 1901, the State Association sent Rev. W. J. McCollum to Hobart with a large tent. He set that tent up opposite the present church location, and there had the first services of First Baptist Church Hobart on August 10, 1901. 125 years later, the church stands on the corner of 2nd and Jefferson, a beacon of hope in a dark world. A mission that started in a tent, now reaches the same community and the world with the hope of the gospel through our savior Jesus Christ.
